Preacher Jun Tan   PRAYER WALK IN THE BALWYN AREA

Last Week, we learned that we are saved to make disciples who make disciples so that the Earth eventually will be filled with God’s image-bearing disciples – God’s original purpose for creation. This week, as we walk in the Balwyn area, we have the opportunity to pray for our community, and to observe – bearing in mind that the people who we are observing are also created in the image of God.

THIS WEEK: Conversational English and Bible Studies have resumed for term 2.

May 2, 10am: Prayer Walk. Jun will lead the service with Communion, and people in the congregation will divide into groups (to walk to Balwyn Library/McDonalds area, Becket Park, Balwyn Community Centre, Chatham Primary School) and one group will stay in the church. They will pray for the community in that centre, and observe who is there etc. On return after 30 minutes, there will be a shared song, an offering and a report of what people have observed.

A reminder – come to church on time this Sunday, as if you are late you might find that most people have already gone out.

May 8: Oak Tree will jointly have a shared dinner together with the Esther group at church on Saturday 8th May between 5:30-9:00pm.

May 16, 10am: We will have another Youth Service (it was great to have the children and youth involved on 11 April and we look forward to having to same response next time), and Community Lunch. The speaker will be Dennis, who was previously a youth pastor at Rowville Baptist before going to Thailand to an unreached area in 2014. He is an Aussie Filipino.

WHAT IS GOD’S NEXT PLAN FOR US AS A CHURCH?

WE BELIEVE GOD IS LEADING US TOWARD A NEW APPOINTMENT

We have received a number of gifts which have been designated for the promotion of youth and children’s ministries through Balwyn Baptist Church. We express our appreciation to those who have expressed their commitment to this ministry in such a practical way.

God is good to us!

Above all, we want what God wants for this church. And this is why we want everyone in the church to pray with us about this matter.

We believe the time is right for this move. It may be that we will be able to proceed with an appointment in our June Church Meeting.
